Amadó Roser, and Ramon Lluis Domenech have been working for almost 40 years as architects in Catalonia. The great social and economic changes that took place over these years have had their direct relation with the architectural evolution of the country, in which Amadó-Domènech played an important role. An excellent example is the Project for the Historic Centre of Lleida that they made in the 80's, which won the National Urbanism Award. It helped to recover an entire degraded and marginal neighborhood, economically, architectonically and socially. Then came the 90's, marked by the Boom before the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and the subsequent crisis afterwards. And finally we entered the new millennium, where the internet, already present in almost every house, did change the way we work radically. The company decided to reinvent itself and B01 arquitectes was created with input from young new partners. In 2008 a severerecession in the international economy presented itself and in the new decade companies compete globally and borders disappear. We didn’t stay behind, obviously.
We have opened up our horizons towards North Africa and Central Europe. But on the other hand, we are positioned in two completely antagonistic countries in different aspects, Brazil and Singapore. Both cover a large territory, nevertheless. The first because the surface itself is almost like the whole of Europe, while Singapore, like its airport, is a large architectonic "hub" towards the region and neighboring countries. Within a few hours flying we find 50% of the world population. Without any doubt we are speaking of two global economic focus points, with highly developed architecture and technology, but we can provide much added value through our experience in a city like Barcelona, with its rich tradition a world leader in the design-sector. Good construction, sustainable architecture and "health" are some of the values we try to export to these countries, while at the same time learning from them.
There are many ways to be implemented abroad. But in any way to get good results and to offer the best customer service is essential to settle permanently in the country of destination. In Brazil, Federico Calabrese has opened a Studio in Salvador de Bahia from where he represents B01 in South America. In Singapore we have chose another strategy: In association with BGC architecture and engineering we have created a new company, B barcelona consulting, that can offer architecture and engineering services. There, Victor Chong, a native of this small big country, is our Asia Business Director and he has a long experience in all Southeast Asia market.
