The aim of the rehabilitation of a hotel at the Herengracht canal was to reach the contemporary Chic and Basic point of view and it’s concept of allowing the client to interact and experiment with the room, which means the building will change depending on its inhabitants.

The approaches followed for the design of the hotel are: on the one hand the “BASIC”: keeping and emphasizing the original building characteristics (restoration of the wooden beams and the sash windows, the cleaning of the walls, etc…).

On the other hand the “CHIC” arranging and conditioning the room at the clients will and necessities introducing small details as the lighting (harmonizing the space to the clients mood through the cromotherapy), the breaking of the public-private concept allowing the shower to be seen from the sleeping room (creating not just a functional object but an sculpture), transforming the bathroom into a single multifunctional piece of furniture and adding second utilities to furniture.
