The public buildings are placed in the perimeter of Torregirona Gardens, where the UPC Deanship Head Office is placed. The plot presents a big slope in the North-South direction and in Dulcet and Til·lers Street it has a difference in height in its borders of 6 meters.
The proposal is made to combine two different uses: the first one is a students residence and the second is an office building with an auditorium. The distribution of the residence is made in three areas, answering to locating and urban morphology.
The three kinds of rooms form three different blocks joined by a communication core, but it is planned a complementary lift for functional issues. The office building is thought as a morphological complement to the residence for facing the scale problem of Torregirona Garden and Pedralbes Quarter. The main pedestrian access in the Campus level will have direct relation with the gardened road inside the Deanship, where we find an access to the residence also.
The study of the program indicates that the fourth upper floors are equal on its area and flexible in distribution terms. The building grows in underground and ground floor by placing the auditorium, the changing room, the access and the storage. The situation of the program in the underground floor enables to exploit passive energy for insulation. The components of the constructive section is thought to achieve acoustic and thermic comfort, and for that reason it is projected a ventilated facade with solar protection for the windows.
