description
The dwellings of el Roser, beyond the strict area of El Canyeret, evidently address a replacement housing programme in a highly needy zone, but they also constitute a project aimed at reweaving the urban structure, a need made patent by the plan analysis maps. A steep hill, impassable streets and minimal infrastructure caused it to be a haven for drugs ans prostitution. To make things more difficult, the programme also required an underground car park with space for 100 vehicles next to Carrer Major. The project initially set to determine the volume in order to allow for a small, new element in the urban structure; therefore, the dwellings were adapted to said volume. The area to be developed and built upon bore two references that would lend the project its scale: the new Cathedral and the convent of El Roser.
