description
Before the official opening of the foundation, the Catalan government wanted to benefit from a work by Antoni Tàpies to be added to the contributions from the Catalan artists that feature in the halls of the Palau (1990). Antoni Tàpies replaced the initial idea of directly painting the walls in order to build huge panels constituting a four-part altarpiece, reminiscent of the four historical chronicle books on Catalonia (by Jaume I, Bernat Desclot, Ramon Muntaner and King Peter IV of Aragon).
